Weiss Library May Month of Gaming

Throughout May the library will have even more programs for all to enjoy. On the remaining Mondays in May game board enthusiast Maria will be at the library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to introduce a variety of board games, most recommended for ages 8 to adults. On May 9 cooperative (non-competitive) board games such as Pandemic (8-plus), Elder Sign (13-plus), Forbidden Island (10-plus) will be featured.

On May 16 micro games, games that are stripped down to a small set of components and are meant to be played in a matter of minutes, will be featured. Samples of micro games include: Love Letters (10,-plus), Zombie Dice (10-plus), Timeline (8-plus). The last Monday, May 23, will feature strategy and theme games such as Specter Ops (13-plus), Bottom of the 9th (two player – 13-plus), The Duke (two player – 13-plus), Gloom (13-plus) and Formula (8-plus). There will be time for game play and to ask general questions on board games. Some games marked will be only a brief demo as they have a playtime of over two hours. On Tuesday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m., writer Genevieve Davis will discuss her cookbook “Fanni’s Viennese Kitchen.” She will also offer a cooking demonstration of the spectacular strawberry cake pictured on her cover. Andi Wittwer will present Guatemala – Land of Bright Colors and Dark Secrets at the library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, a lecture about her recent trip to the country.
